Gay Bars Closed: The Lost LGBT Scene Project
View detailed profile Advanced bars search site with Search Forums Advanced. We are very active and are considering a move in the next 12 months either out of state, or to Newburyport from the South Shore of MA. Can anyone tell me about the gay community in the Newburyport area? Is there much of one? We would like to have the opportunity to meet new friends of all ages, go to dinner gay.
We love the town, but mostly know if only from the perspective of taking " day trips" there. We never seem to see many gay people. Any insight is appreciated! NE Guy. I find the more affluent communities, higher income, better educated ares, seem to be much more accepting to all types of people from all kinds of a diverse gloucester.
Location: Quincy, Mass. I'd think with the vast restaurant culture there, there would be a decent sample of gay and gay-friendly folks as a result. I am not the best resource on the gay community in Newburyport. I have dated an African American woman, and people would see us holding hands downtown and they'd just smile.
Now, not saying you'll never run into someone that is an a-hole, but there will always be some of those anywhere that you go, and it's a hazard for people of any orientation. I work in a profession with a high percentage of LGB folk. Originally Posted by neighbor. Originally Posted by johngolf. I think you'd find the town very welcoming.
We recently moved to the historic district in the South End of Newburyport. We are a hetero couple with one child in college, one child in high school. We live on a small side street with mostly single family homes and some half houses. So far we have met families on our street -- our immediate next door neighbors as well as the neighbors across the street are both gay male couples in their 50's, no kids.
Both couples have lived in Newburyport for years and told us they love it here. The truth is we haven't met anyone who doesn't love living in Newburyport!
